Axopar 37 XC

Surf & Turf in St. Vincent and the Grenadines:

With Agapi Boat Club

There are Caribbean vacations—and then there are journeys where sea and shore merge into a seamless adventure. St. Vincent & the Grenadines (SVG) belongs firmly in the latter category. Spread across a necklace of lush, low-key islands, SVG is made for travellers who prefer their holidays equal parts exploration and indulgence. And thanks to direct Air Canada service from Toronto, slipping into this constellation of emerald hills, sapphire channels, and sugar-soft beaches has never been easier.

On a recent trip through St. Vincent, Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau, and the Tobago Cays, I had the chance to learn about the region through a different lens—aboard an Axopar 37 XC, that will be operated locally through the Agapi Boat Club at the Mayreau Beach Club and Resort. It’s a setup that creates a unique “Surf & Turf” vacation: resort comfort on land, Scandinavian performance boating on demand, and total freedom across some of the Caribbean’s most spectacular waters.

These guidelines have been put in place to protect the health and safety of our staff as well as all guests. They are subject to change and will remain in place as long as directed by our government, health care professionals and as deemed necessary by management. We encourage all boaters to regularly check government websites for current regulations.

All customers are to use hand sanitizer stations around the facility and upon entering showroom, parts store or service counter.

A Basecamp in Paradise: Mayreau Beach Club & Resort

Mayreau, the smallest inhabited island in SVG, is exactly the sort of place you hope no one else knows about. The Mayreau Beach Club & Resort sits tucked along a pristine stretch of sand, a boutique hideaway that blends barefoot luxury with the relaxed soul of the Grenadines. It’s also home to the region’s Agapi Boat Club franchise—one of the few places in the Caribbean where boating enthusiasts have immediate access to a high-performance Axopar without the commitments of ownership.

For travellers, the combination is powerful. Instead of choosing between a resort vacation or a boating vacation, you get both. Wake up in your villa or beachfront suite, enjoy breakfast overlooking Saline Bay, and then step onto the dock where your Axopar waits. No scheduling charters weeks in advance, no juggling taxis or ferries, and—perhaps the best luxury of all—no rigid itinerary.

Why the Axopar 37 Shines in SVG

The Axopar 37 is widely considered one of the most versatile adventure boats on the water today. With its pilothouse design, wide decks, and proven offshore handling, it’s ideal for the Grenadines, where conditions can shift between sheltered channels and open Atlantic in minutes. The boat’s speed allows you to hop between islands comfortably, while its efficiency means long days of exploring are easy on both fuel and crew.

For travellers who crave flexibility, the Agapi membership model removes friction. Members book boats through the app, step aboard, and go—without maintenance, mooring considerations, or the challenges of navigating new territory solo. Local teams provide route suggestions, weather updates, concierge-style support, and insider tips on landing spots, snorkelling sites, and hidden beaches.

In SVG, this kind of mobility transforms the experience. Instead of being tethered to a single island—or dependent on ferries and water taxis—you become a true explorer of the Grenadines.

St. Vincent: Your Gateway to the Chain

Many travellers begin on the main island of St. Vincent, a vibrant cultural hub wrapped in rainforest-green slopes. Even if you only spend a day here before heading south, it’s worth easing into the rhythm of the region.

With an Axopar at your disposal, you can cruise along the leeward coast for views of volcanic cliffs, stop for lunch in Blue Lagoon, or dive the Bat Cave and the coral-rich waters off Buccament. St. Vincent offers the most “mainland” feel you’ll encounter on the trip—fresh markets, historic forts, botanical gardens—but from the water, it still feels wild and dramatic.

Bequia: The Beating Heart of the Grenadines

Just a short run south lies Bequia, a perennial favourite among sailors, yachties, and travellers seeking authenticity without sacrificing comforts. Admiralty Bay, with its horseshoe shape and always-busy anchorage, sets the tone: lively but never congested, friendly but never pushy.

Arriving aboard the Axopar means you can skip the slow ferry and slide right into Bequia’s laid-back charm. Swim off Princess Margaret Beach, browse the island’s tiny but fascinating model boat shops, or grab a seaside lunch at Jack’s Beach Bar. Bequia is the perfect island for long, unhurried afternoons—something the boat club model encourages. Stay an hour or stay the whole day; the only schedule is your own.

Mustique: Understated Luxury With Room to Roam

A little farther south—and often considered the jewel of the Grenadines—lies Mustique, the island known for celebrity hideaways and old-school glam. But Mustique is more approachable than many expect. The island encourages day visitors arriving by private boat, and the Axopar 37 is ideal for navigating its well-charted waters.

Pull into Britannia Bay for moorings, then head ashore to explore the island’s winding paths, boutiques, and cafés. The legendary Basil’s Bar, rebuilt and refreshed in recent years, is a must-stop for cocktails over turquoise water.

Whether you’re people-watching or beach-hopping, Mustique offers a curated version of Caribbean life—polished, serene, and quietly spectacular. We brought in a freshly caught 15lb Bluefin Tuna and Basil’s Bar chefs were more than happy to cook it for our group.

Canouan: Chic Resorts and Crystal-Clear Bays

Canouan feels like a meeting of worlds: lush local communities, world-class resorts, and some of the best beaches in the Grenadines. With the Axopar, approach from the north and glide into Glossy Bay, one of the most photogenic stretches of sand you’ll ever see. The bay’s natural breakwater delivers calm, gin-clear water perfect for swimming or paddleboarding.

Travellers who appreciate exclusivity can also visit the upscale marina village, grab lunch at a waterfront restaurant, or stroll the immaculate promenade. Canouan often surprises boaters with its blend of quiet elegance and relaxed island living.

Mayreau: Home Base and Hidden Gem

Returning each evening to Mayreau Beach Club & Resort feels like coming home—just with Caribbean breezes and a bar, steps from the sand.

On non-boating days, Mayreau itself offers beautiful experiences: the small village atop the hill overlooking the Tobago Cays, the vibrant local eateries, and the sweeping Saltwhistle Bay, often called one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean.

But the real magic of Mayreau is what sits just beyond its shores.

Tobago Cays: The Crown Jewel of the Caribbean

Tobago Cays
Tobago Cays

No trip to SVG is complete without anchoring in the Tobago Cays Marine Park—a collection of uninhabited islets protected by a horseshoe reef, where turquoise waters stretch into forever. This is paradise on its purest setting.

With the Axopar, you can approach the Cays easily, drop anchor in the lee of Baradal, and swim with green turtles grazing in the seagrass. Snorkellers will find bright coral gardens, schools of brilliantly coloured fish, and rays gliding along the sandy bottom. The Cays are also ideal for paddleboarding or simply drifting in warm water that looks almost unreal.

Most visitors arrive by crowded day charters; having your own boat takes the experience to another level. Arrive early, stay late, or go twice—membership boating means unlimited access, not one rushed excursion.

The Power of Flexibility: Why Agapi’s Model Works Here

SVG rewards spontaneity. Winds shift, seas calm, local events pop up, and some days you simply want to chase the sun. This is where the Agapi Boat Club approach shines.

When paired with a resort stay, it turns into a “Surf & Turf” hybrid vacation—comfort, amenities, and relaxation on land, with boundless exploration at sea.

A Trip That Stays with You

St. Vincent & the Grenadines is a rare blend of untouched beauty and modern convenience. Whether you’re sipping a rum punch at Basil’s Bar, snorkelling with turtles in the Tobago Cays, wandering the markets of Bequia, or dropping anchor off a deserted beach in Canouan, the islands invite you to take life at the pace of the tides.

With direct flights from Toronto and the combination of a luxurious resort like Mayreau Beach Club and the flexibility of an Agapi Axopar 37 at your command, travellers can craft a vacation that feels both effortless and unforgettable.

It’s not just a getaway—it’s a way of experiencing the Caribbean on your own terms. And once you’ve cruised these waters with the freedom of your own high-performance boat, it’s hard to imagine exploring them any other way.

Joining the Agapi Boat Club in Toronto will not only give you access to Canadian and US boats but also allows you Global Access to premium boats around the world.
